Dr Weidner laid the foundation for his current work through his studies at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf at the Institute of Physiological Chemistry of the Faculty of Medicine and with his doctorate at the Institute of Biochemistry as a Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr rer. nat.). Dr Weidner then focused on the field of reproductive biology and successfully managed one of the largest reproductive medicine laboratories in Germany for eight years. During this time, he managed to achieve the early clinical application of the latest innovative techniques in modern reproductive medicine. Dr Weidner moved to a Catholic clinic in 2000, where he established a new reproductive biology unit with an associated quality management system. This was followed by a brief period as a freelance consultant for various reproductive medicine laboratories in Germany. Dr Weidner has been head of the reproductive medicine laboratories at Fleetinsel Fertility Clinic in Hamburg since 2003, where he specialises in In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), andrology and cryobiology. Dr Weidner was awarded a specialist qualification in Human Reproductive Biology by the German Society of Human Reproductive Biology (AGRBM) in 2004 and the title of Senior Clinical Embryologist by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in 2008.
